Creating and Keeping Good Jobs
I introduced and passed landmark legislation protecting small business from state government red tape and bureaucracy earning me the Guardian of Small Business award from the National Federation of Independent Business. I stood up for Madison County companies like Carter Express, Nestle, Red Gold and Hoosier Park by introducing new incentives to help save jobs and money. My legislation to attract new high-tech businesses to Indiana was recognized by the IN Economic Development Association and earned me the “Friend of Economic Development" award.
Lower Taxes
I am proud of my record to keep taxes low. I know how hard it is for working Hoosiers to pay everyday bills. Over the past three years, I have supported over $900 million in property tax relief for property owners and new tax relief for Indiana's military veterans. Hoosier families and our local small businesses have had to tighten their belts and make tough choices. Government should be held to the same standard.
Education
We need to put our kids first. Our local schools must have the resources and funding they need to provide our kids with a world class education. Over the past several months, the state has cut over $300 million from schools. This has resulted in school closings, teachers being laid off, programs being cut, and class sizes growing. I will fight to make sure our school districts receive our fair share of state funding.
